Everything you need to know about joining On Tour, memberships, bookings, and keeping the community safe.
What is On Tour?
On Tour is a member community connecting touring musicians with local hosts offering a place to stay, a space to play, or both. Whether you're touring Australia, hosting artists in your town, or looking to create meaningful musical connections, On Tour exists to help keep live music moving.
Who can join?
Anyone can create an account and browse the community.
Musicians can create touring profiles to connect with hosts.
Hosts can create profiles offering:
- A place to stay
- A space to play
- Or both
Is On Tour free?
Yes... and no!
For Hosts: Creating a Host profile is free. In the future, hosts may choose to apply for optional profile upgrades or recognition badges as they build a positive hosting history within the community. These upgrades are entirely optional and designed to recognise trusted, active members.
For Musicians: Anyone can browse and explore On Tour for free. To create a Musician profile, connect with hosts and access member features, musicians can choose a low-cost monthly or annual membership. Your membership helps us maintain and improve the platform, develop new features, provide member support, keep the community safe and running smoothly, and continue growing a network that supports live music around Australia. Our goal is to keep memberships affordable while creating something valuable for the entire touring community.
Who are the Founding Members?
We're inviting our first 40 Hosts and 40 Musicians to become our Founding Members. Founding Members receive complimentary access with a special invitation code as a thank you for helping shape the culture and future of the On Tour community from the very beginning.
Does On Tour arrange bookings?
No. On Tour simply connects people. Hosts and musicians communicate directly to decide whether they'd like to arrange accommodation, a house concert, backyard performance, rehearsal space or other opportunities together.
Does On Tour handle payments?
No. On Tour does not process payments for accommodation, performances, ticket sales, donations, tips or other financial arrangements. Any agreements or payments are made directly between the host and the musician.
Are house concerts legal?
Laws and regulations differ between states, councils and local governments. Hosts and musicians are responsible for ensuring they comply with any local laws, permits, planning requirements, noise regulations, licences or insurance that may apply. On Tour simply provides the platform for members to connect.
Can hosts charge for accommodation?
That is entirely up to the host and musician. Some hosts generously offer accommodation free of charge. Others may request a contribution towards expenses or agree on another arrangement. On Tour encourages clear communication so everyone understands expectations before confirming a stay.
Can musicians charge for performances?
Absolutely. Every performance arrangement is different. Some house concerts involve ticket sales or donations, while others are community gatherings or private events. Any financial arrangements are negotiated directly between the host and the musician.
How do reviews work?
After a completed stay or event, members can leave honest reviews based on their experience. Reviews help build trust and encourage respectful, reliable behaviour throughout the community.
What if I need to cancel?
Life happens. If your plans change, please let the other person know as soon as possible. Good communication helps everyone and keeps the community positive.
Is On Tour responsible for stays or events?
No. On Tour is a platform that introduces hosts and musicians. Members are responsible for making their own decisions and arrangements. We encourage everyone to communicate openly, respect personal boundaries and use common sense.
How do I report a problem?
If you experience inappropriate behaviour, fake profiles or anything that makes you feel unsafe, please contact our support team immediately. We'll investigate reports promptly and may suspend or remove members who breach our Community Guidelines.
